Rifles for Watie

  1. A character trait that plays an important role in Jeff's friends that adds to my understanding of Jeff is patience because, Jeff had to be patient telling his story over and over and, bravery.
  2. I think that the setting is so important in the story because, if you don't know where the story takes place you wouldn't know what side he was on.
  3. Jeff's new enemy is Captain Asa Clardy.  He could of prevented it by changing his name.

Type and shadow

I was reading a book called Latter Day Spies and, it is a type and shadow of the Nephites escaping the drunk slaves of the king because, the three friends were trapped inside the castle and the bad guys were going to go get beer.  One of the servants forgot to lock Sadie's door. When the bad guys got back they got drunk and they escaped. It is a really good book.  I also finished Black Beauty.

Chapter 5

pg 53 Chapter 5. There will be other battles my little warrior.  But not yet.  Not until you are ready.
The main characters are the two queens, Daisytail and Oakleaf.  They feel that really small kits are not big enough to fight full grown warriors.

In chapter 5 the conflict is character VS. character because the queens were fighting because they thought there kits were to young to fight.  The queens jumped from behind a rock and yelled stop! We are stopping this battle because some of these kits are barely weaned from their mothers milk.  they had a meeting that night and the code " a cat must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice was made.

Vocabulary apprentice: a beginner a learner

chapter conflicts

In chapter 1 the conflict does not have anything to do with survival because it is just that you can't have kits with cats from other clans.  In chapter 2 it is a little more serious with survival because if you hunt on WindClan territory but, you are from ShadowClan then WindClan would run out of food and die.  In chapter 3 it is still pretty serious because if you don't feed elders first they might die and, the elders teach you a lot because they have been alive a long time and learned it from their elders.  If you don't feed kits they won't grow up to be warriors.  Chapter 4 is really serious because if you play with your food you won't be able to eat it and you will run out of pray.  Chapter 5 is really serious too because if you put little untrained kits in battle they will die and your clan will run out of warriors.

Conflict

I think the main conflict in Where the Red Fern Grows is character VS. nature because they're always trying to catch a coon.  There is also some character VS. self because he had to push himself to get enough money for dogs.

I think the tone and mood in Warriors is edgy, and exciting.

Chapter 4

January 30, 2011
Erin Hunter
Code of the Clans
pg. 45
Prey is killed only to be eaten.
Give thanks to StarClan for it's life.

sentence: He'd scratch out those scrawny WindClan cats eyes, he'd chase the fat RiverClan cats until their legs fell off, he'd creep up on the ThunderClan cats and claw their ears... Driftkit! what in the name of StarClan are you doing to that mouse!
The round character is Driftkit.  The flat character is the cat who yells at Driftkit.  Driftkit is playful and wants to become a warrior and fight.  I can tell he is either from ShadowClan or SkyClan because he wants to attack the other clans.  Another thing is that he was dreaming of fighting but then got in trouble for playing with his mouse.  The reason they made the codeis because Driftkit played with his mouse and it got stale and he couldn't eat it.  Then an eagle came and stole it. P.S. what is type and shadow?  Can you explain it?

Vocabulary:  Tone pg. 46 definition:any sound considered with reference to it's quality, pitch strength, source E.T.C shrill tones.

Confllict

Some of the conflicts in this story are training kits to be warriors, following the code, and fighting for your clan.  Most of the conflicts point to the code being made.  Like in chapter 6 the conflict is getting warriors to stop messing around.  That leads to the code: Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

conflict

In chapter 1 the conflict is character VS. society.   In chapter 2 I think the conflict is character VS. god because StarClan made the branch fall.  In chapter 3 I think the conflict is character VS. character because some of the cats are fighting.  In chapter 4 I think it is character VS. nature because the eagle is part of nature.  I tried to type this in at my grandmas a while ago but it didn't work.  Thanks for the typewriter story.  I finished Where the Red Fern Grows but since I am reading Warriors slow and posting on it I am not finished.

In that sentence I can tell that Riverclan is involved because it's by a river.  I can also tell that there is a lot of water.  Another thing is that it's in the fall.  The flat characters are the other warriors.  the round character is Splashheart.  He is brave, kind, respectful, tough, and generous.

Sunningsrock belonged to Riverclan but, then there was a big flood and the rock turned into an island and, wasn't on either side.  Riverclan and Thundeclan were fighting to see who would get Sunningsrock.

During the battle, he pinned down a black and white cat but two cats pounced on him.  Then Splashheart's leader jumped on the cats and died.  Splashheart was very sad .  He is brave because he saved his clanmate from a tomcat.  He is very respectful to his elders because he made the code. The importance of the code is teaching generations to respect their elders.

Code of the Clans chapter2 main characters

January 10, 2011
Code of the Clans
Chapter2 pages 19-23
code:Do not hunt or trespass on another clans territory.

Main Characters
Whitestar, Emberstar, Birchstar, Brindlestar, Dappletail, White-eye, Owlfur, and Hailstar.

The reason the cats made the code is because all the cats were stealing food from other clans.  So they called a meeting.  During the meeting a branch fell but no cats were hurt!  It was a sign from starclan that boundaries are small and thin as a whisker but strong as oak and can not be crossed.  They had a meeting and made the code.

Another reason they made the code is because two cats Dappeltail and White-eye from thunderclan wanted to know what fish tasted like, so they each tried to catch one but fell in the river!  Then Owlfur and Hailstorm saved them.  White-eye caught a fish and Hailstar let her eat it but, she hated it!

Code of the Clans,chapter1

pages,10-18

code1:Defend your clan even with your life.  You may have friendships with cats from other clans, but your loyalty must remain to your clan.

Main Characters:Ryewhisker,Cloudberry,Duststar,Stonetail,and Hawkfur

The reason the cats made the code is because two cats, Ryewhisker and Cloudberry are from different clans, but they are going to have kittens together.  In a war one of Ryewhiskers clanmates is about to kill Cloudberry.  Ryewhisker jumps in front of him.  He gets in big trouble by Stonetail, the leader.  Duststar then called the meeting and made the code.

Code of the Clans chapter 2

January 8, 2011
Code of the Clans

page 20

A huge branch ripped away from one of the giant oaks and plunged onto the cats, sending flurries of snowflakes into the air.

I can tell that the cats were in the woods. I can also tell that it is winter because there is snow. I can tell there is a lot of oak trees, because it says one of the giant oak trees, not the giant oak tree.

Code of the Clans, chap.1, entry 1

January 7, 2011
Code of the Clans
Erin Hunter
page 2

After one dreadful battle, when the ground beneath the four great oak trees turned red with blood, the spirits of the dead cats came back to plead for peace with the strongest cats from each hunting ground:Wind,River,Thunder,Shadow, and Sky.

The round characters are the five clans. The flat characters are the weak cats. The weak cats help describe the five clans by pleading for peace. That is a way I know that the clans are strong.
I know there was more than one battle because it says after one, not, after the.I know there was a lot of blood.Another thing I know is that it`s by oak trees.
