Code of the Clans
pg. 45
Prey is killed only to be eaten.
Give thanks to StarClan for it's life.
sentence: He'd scratch out those scrawny WindClan cats eyes, he'd chase the fat RiverClan cats until their legs fell off, he'd creep up on the ThunderClan cats and claw their ears... Driftkit! what in the name of StarClan are you doing to that mouse!
The round character is Driftkit. The flat character is the cat who yells at Driftkit. Driftkit is playful and wants to become a warrior and fight. I can tell he is either from ShadowClan or SkyClan because he wants to attack the other clans. Another thing is that he was dreaming of fighting but then got in trouble for playing with his mouse. The reason they made the codeis because Driftkit played with his mouse and it got stale and he couldn't eat it. Then an eagle came and stole it. P.S. what is type and shadow? Can you explain it?
Vocabulary: Tone pg. 46 definition:any sound considered with reference to it's quality, pitch strength, source E.T.C shrill tones.

ReplyDeleteYou chose a perfect sentence to show how the young cat pretends to be a warrior, plus, this sentence show us what "good "warriors do to their enemies. Driftkit had lessons to learn, and if they are not learned he may go hungry, or be attacked. The eagle show power in nature, and the prey aspect - all of which must be respected if Driftkit is to survive.
Let's talk about "Type and Shadow"
In the New Testament the story of the
Good Samaritan in a "type and shadow " of the Plan of Salvation. We, all of God's children, are the certain man that fell among thieves and our Savior, Jesus Christ is the Good Samaritan. The parables and stories told by Jesus Christ are like onions, they have many layers, and the more we learn the deeper the understanding and the messages we are to follow.
In Red Fern Rawls .. on my list of "one of the best books ever" builds around the message of love and dedication and what that entails in how we treat others. Remember how Old Dan and Little Ann helped, protected, and encouraged each other, and how Billy helped, protected and encouraged both of the dogs. Billy having higher intelligence also taught the dogs how to be better. Remember the first night in the cave on the way home...how Old Dan howled at the mountain cat...now think about the last scene...yes, that very beginning scene was a type and shadow of the outcome.
Foreshadowing in another name for this literary element - foreshadowing is a hint of what is to come.. Foreshadowing happens in a smaller, unnoticed way, if the writer does it well. It helps make the story believable, because it seems to happen so naturally.
Thank you Again,
Mrs. Albert
That is really interesting! I never knew that we were the man and Jesus was the good samaritan.
